Interfaith Bridge Building
|
Seeking to build awareness and understanding between Mennonites and Muslims primarily in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
“Christians are called to love and respect all as neighbor, and all neighbors no matter their faith. All of us are made in God’s image. In our neighborhood, wisdom, truth, and creativity will yield gifts when we respectfully listen, ask questions, and meet each other. As hosts, Christians have a responsibility to reach out and extend the hand of friendship.”
Paying attention to God’s call to Christians to practice hospitality and welcome the stranger, Mennonites from across the Region of Waterloo have been meeting with their Muslim neighbours. Relationships are formed and trust is built during monthly breakfast meetings and during service evenings where various kits are packed and blankets are knotted. Community events looking at issues of interest to both faith communities, also take place. Intentionally making time to get to know each other and learn about our faith traditions creates opportunities for stories to be shared and for commonalities to emerge. Contact:
